IT’S BEST TO SHAVE
YOUR HEAD WITH A WET QUIK SHAVE™ RAZOR -
A Quik Shave razor is able to cut hair better when it is wet. Most
shaving damage results from using dull blades, the wrong shaving products,
and/or a lack of preparation. So relax, and wet shave your head with a
Quik Shave Razor.
NEVER, EVER DRY SHAVE
YOUR HEAD WITH A RAZOR!
No, no, no! Just don’t do it. It’s b-a-d for your skin and can cause
ingrown hairs. Shave with water!
DO NOT SHAVE YOUR
HEAD IN DIM LIGHTS!
Proper lighting is very important for safe shaving. Use higher wattage
light bulbs around the sink area, or turn on the bathroom flood light for
best results. Either way, don’t use Quik Shave in the dark!
WHICH IS BEST: SINK
or SHOWER?
It’s your choice. Many men prefer shaving their heads with Quik Shave
after they shower in front of their bathroom mirror. Others shave right
there in the shower with a fog-free mirror, usually as the last thing they
do before finishing so that the warm water and steam open skin pores and
soften facial hair.
USE DOUBLE BLADE RAZOR
CARTRIDGES with ALOE STRIPS -
Although some claim that a single blade razor cartridge is less irritating
to use for shaving, you’ll find this won’t be the case with aloe-stripped
double blades, if you take the time to prepare your skin prior to shaving
and use a moisturizing shave cream or gel.
DO NOT USE DULL or
RUSTED RAZOR BLADE CARTRIDGES -
Typically, a razor blade cartridge needs to be replaced anytime between
2 to 3 shaves, depending on the texture of your hair. But to shave
your head, only use new razor blade cartridges. Using old cartridges
will result in an irritating shave and damage to the skin. So change
your razor blades frequently for the best shaves possible!
USE A MIRROR WHEN
YOU SHAVE YOUR HEAD -
It’s hard to get a good look at where the hair is on top and in back
of your head, so use a mirror. This way, you won’t miss anything. If you
prefer shaving in the shower, buy an anti-fog mirror.
YOU ABSOLUTELY MUST
"PREP" YOUR HEAD BEFORE SHAVING!
There are too many dangerous, painful risks involved in shaving your
head without proper preparation. Razor burn bumps, itchy dark scabs
and blotchy red skin on your bare scalp are just a few. Follow our
instructions for the best, smoothest results.
USE A QUALITY SKIN-FRIENDLY
SHAVING CREAM or GEL -

and blotchy red skin on your bare scalp are just a few. Follow our

TRY A SHAVING BRUSH
to APPLY YOUR SHAVING CREAM or GEL -
Using a shaving brush with natural bristles to lather your head will
help lift the hairs on your scalp for a better shave. If you don’t
have one, use your fingers. Remember; don’t use regular bathroom bar soap
for shaving cream because it’s not lubricating enough.
IF YOU NOW HAVE A
FULL HEAD OF HAIR, YOU'LL NEED TO GET A "BUZZ" -
You will probably want to do this procedure in the bathroom; if so,
spread newspapers out over the floor to catch your hair clippings.
Some guys suggest that you do this outside, on a patio, balcony or lawn.
To start, trim as much of your hair off as you can with an electric trimmer,
OR a pair of very sharp scissors. Keep it simple and go easy. Start at
the back, then do each of the sides, and work your way to the top of your
head.
START WITH A WARM
SHOWER, SAUNA or TURBAN -
To properly shave your head without problems, you will have to carefully
lubricate and moisturize your hair and skin. Therefore, after trimming
your hair, head for the shower or sauna. Relax and enjoy the warm water
and steam for about 5-10 minutes. This should be enough time to soften
your hair and scalp. If this is not possible, wrap your head in a hot,
wet towel and wear this "turban" for about 5-10 minutes. Either way, warm
water opens the pores of your skin, softens the hairs and makes shaving
a lot easier.
PREP YOUR SCALP BEFORE
SHAVING -
With very warm water, wet your head and a washcloth. Lightly soap the
washcloth and with slight pressure, glide the cloth upward against the
growth of hair on your scalp, starting at the back of the head. This will
make your hair stand up for easier shaving. Rinse. DO NOT USE EXTREMELY
HOT WATER, because this is drying to the skin and damaging to your pores.
Rinse off the washcloth and wring it out, then place it on your head. Hold
it in place for 1-2 minutes. Doing this will help guard against razor burn
by softening the hairs.
LUBRICATE THE SKIN
and HAIR ON YOUR SCALP -
Splash a layer of warm water on your head, and then apply a 1/4" to
1/2" coat of moisturizing shaving cream or gel onto your head. Wait about
3-5 minutes; this will allow the moisturizing agents to really work into
your skin and hair. While you wait, put new blades on your Quik Shave Razor
and rinse it in very hot water.
PREPARE YOUR QUIK
SHAVE RAZOR -
Run very warm water over your razor blades first, before you start
shaving with Quik Shave.
NOW, START SHAVING
YOUR HEAD -
Your goal here is to shave as much hair off as possible with a single
sweep of your Quik Shave Razor. Shaving over and over an area more than
once can cause razor burn. Begin shaving where your hair is at its thickest
and fullest (usually the back of the head), then move to areas where your
hair grows thinner. If you’ve just buzzed off your hair, you’ll probably
only be able to shave for about and inch or two on the scalp before you
have to stop and rinse out the Quik Shave Razor; this is the right thing
to do. Don’t ever shave with a razor blade that’s clogged full of lather
and cut hair! Keep going, take it easy and be patient. Rushing a job like
this can result in nicks, cuts, and scrapes.
KEEP STILL and STEADY
-
Relax, breathe steadily, and pay attention to what you are doing.
SHAVE WITH ONE HAND
-
Don’t use two hands to drag the Quik Shave Razor across your head.
One is all you need.
SHAVE YOUR SCALP in
the RIGHT DIRECTION: YOUR WAY -
There really is no right or wrong direction for shaving with Quik Shave
(other than horizontally), because each man’s skin and hair are different.
What is good for one may not be the same for another. Some men lather up
and shave in the direction of the hair growth on their heads for best results,
not against the grain of their hair. Others will shave both ways and have
no problems. OK, we all know it seems like you’d get a better shave by
going against the grain, but this actually can damage the hair shaft. But
don’t worry- if you experience irritation by shaving against the direction
of your hair and want to switch, spend the next 3 weeks shaving with Quik
Shave in the other direction to retrain the growth pattern of your beard.
Soon, you’ll be getting a smoother shave with no difficulty.
DON’T FORGET TO SHAVE
in AREAS YOU CAN’T EASILY SEE -
Areas like this are under, or behind the ears, on the back of the head,
etc.
CHECK YOURSELF BEFORE
YOU FINISH -
Run both of your hands over your head to feel for any places that you
may have missed before you stop.
WHEN YOU ARE FINISHED
SHAVING -
When you are finished, wet your washcloth with lukewarm water (not
hot, not cold) and wring it out. Place it on your head to help close
the pores of your skin. Then pat off (don’t rub) your scalp with
a soft dry towel. Don’t forget to rinse your Quik Shave Razor for
a final time.
STABILIZE YOUR SKIN
AFTER SHAVING -
It is very important that you put a skin moisturizer or after shave
balm on your scalp immediately after shaving and toweling off because your
skin will probably feel a little vulnerable then. If you have a dried-out
feeling, a nourishing moisturizer is a must. Some ultra macho guys like
to use alcohol-based after-shave because any cuts or nicks they have will
heal quickly, but this also stings and dries out their skin. Oil-based
lotions can clog pores, so use a gentle product that is alcohol and oil
free, like aloe vera gel, a great natural product to use.
IF YOU GET A NICK
or CUT -
Don’t panic! Dab a moistened styptic pencil on the damaged area, OR
tear off a tiny piece of tissue paper and place onto the cut. After this
dries (5-10 minutes), you can remove the tissue and rub a little aloe vera
over the spot. If you get a major cut, go ahead and use a small bandage.
Black pepper also helps to stop bleeding.
DEALING WITH INGROWN
HAIRS -
Just in case you ever discover ingrown hair on your scalp, steam your
skin with a very warm cloth for a minute, like a hot towel. Then,
gently use a loofah sponge or Buff Puff pad to exfoliate the skin area
with ingrown hair. Now shave the area. For hairs that are ingrown
deep down in your skin, you’ll need to sterilize a pair of needle-nosed
tweezers with rubbing alcohol and individually lift each ingrown hair out
of its follicle. Get assistance from someone if you have trouble
seeing your scalp. When finished, wipe with alcohol and shave.
CONSIDER SHAVING IN
THE SHOWER -
Some men use Quik Shave in the shower as the last thing they do before
they finish and rinse and towel off. If this makes sense, try it.
EXFOLIATE YOUR SCALP
TWICE A WEEK BEFORE YOU SHAVE -
When you remove the top layers of dead skin on your scalp prior to
shaving, you’ll help the skin stay clear and get a cleaner, closer shave.
This also prevents ingrown hair problems. You can exfoliate during
your shower. Use a loofah sponge, Buff Puff pad, or a special facial scrub
from the skin care product aisle at the drug store.
IF YOU FIND YOURSELF
WITHOUT A SHAVING CREAM or GEL, DON’T WORRY! -
Simply use shampoo or hair conditioner when you have nothing else!
Lather up your head and go!
RINSE OFF YOUR QUIK
SHAVE RAZOR and LET IT AIR DRY -
Be sure to rinse off the razor after each stroke to remove cut hair
and extra lather. This will prevent the blades from becoming clogged and
can save you from accidental nicks. Then, allow Quik Shave to air dry.
Do not wipe the blades dry with a towel. |
